Winter Park Historical Asssociation

Full Description:

Through free historical programs, the historical museum, educational outreach programs, and the Winter Park Unity Heritage Festival, the Winter Park Historical Association fulfills its mission statement. Speakers have ranged from scholarly slide presentations to performances by Florida Humanities Council scholar/actors to walking tours of various sites in Winter Park. The mission of the Winter Park Historical Association is to collect, preserve, promote and research the history of Winter Park and its surrounding area, and to share that history with the public through educational programs and operation of a museum. The Association receives support from the City of Winter Park, as well as membership dues, proceeds from an endowment fund, in-kind services, donations, various project-oriented grants, and support from the State of Florida, Historical Museums Grants-In Aid program. Grants have been received from the Florida Humanities Council, United Arts, and the Rotary Club of Winter Park. The Association is a member of the Central Florida Historical Consortium, a five-county organization formed to share information and ideas, to partner of exhibits and outreach. The Association is also a founding member of the Winter Park Cultural Consortium. The Association is a member of several professional organizations: Society of Florida Archivists, The American Association of State and Local History, Florida Association of Museums, and the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation. The Association is a member of the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce and the Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
