The Military Outreach Ministry seeks to identify currently deployed men and women of the Armed Services. The ministry periodically collects items for and sends care packages to these brave men and women. In addition, we reach out to the families of deployed service men and women and identify ways to support them. We also minister to military families who are having financial trouble or are otherwise in distress.
Some of our recent events include:
On November 21, 2010, the church hosted a Thanksgiving feast for approximately 25 local Army Reservists and their families.
During the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, the church collected items to send to deployed troops overseas. Items were collected to fill nearly 75 shoe boxes. Three of the organizations we worked through were the 3-347th Army Reserve Stinger Battalion in Winter Park, Marine Parents (www.MarineParents.com) and the Larry E. Smedley National Vietnam War Memorial Museum in Orlando (http://www.nwmvocf.org/index.html)
On January 9, 2011, the church hosted the Change of Command Ceremony for the outgoing commander of the 3-347th Stinger Battalion, Lt. Col. Steve Thomas (“Colonel Steve”), an active member of FUMCWP.

Currently, we have connected with the Camaraderie Foundation. Camaraderie’s mission is to provide supplemental spiritual, emotional and counseling support for re-deployed or deployed soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, reservists and Guardsmen, as well as to their families. The Foundation’s website is http://www.camaraderiefoundation.com/. They are in need of volunteer and financial support. Please visit their website to see how you can serve.
