APPLICATIONS FOR ROLLINS FRINGE GRANT ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED WINTER PARK, FL – The Rollins College Department of Theatre & Dance is pleased to announce the “Friends of the Annie Grant: Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival” is now entering its second year. The grant, made possible by donations to the Friends of the Annie fund, will award a member of the Rollins community – student, alumnus, staff, faculty or professor emeritus – funds to produce a play at the Orlando Fringe. "I am deeply appreciative for the support and encouragement the Friends of the Annie Grant contributed to my playwriting career,” said Minda Stephens, an alumna of Rollins’ Hamilton Holt School who received last year’s grant. Stephens was awarded the grant to mount Matanzas: A Survivor’s Story, a historical drama about the Spanish massacre of the French in Florida in 1586. Eligible persons wishing to apply for the grant, need only log onto the department’s website at www.rollins.edu/theatre to download an information sheet and application. The completed application must be presented to the Department of Theatre & Dance by Friday, August 3, 2007 at 5pm to be considered for the 2008 grant. A committee formed of members of the Rollins community and the Central Florida arts community will review the submissions. The committee will determine one recipient for the $1000 award. “The Fringe Festival was a delight, and the Friends of the Annie Grant provided a safe haven for my play and the production process,” said Stephens.
