RENOWNED SCULPTURES GRACE WINTER PARK'S CENTRAL PARK

Large-scale works by internationally known sculptors will be featured in the Art on the Green exhibition in Winter Park's Central Park, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Assembled by professional arts curator Joyce Pomeroy Schwartz, this outdoor exhibition of 10 works of art includes Vito Acconci's "Hole in the Ground," Red Grooms' "Hot Dog Vendor," and Louise Nevelson's "Night Gesture 1, 1976-86." "Winter Park is thrilled to have this first-time exhibit in our signature park," said Winter Park Mayor David Strong. "Positioned between our annual Autumn Art Festival and springtime Sidewalk Art Festival, the Art on the Green exhibition extends the art experience in downtown Winter Park through winter for our residents and seasonal tourists." Visitors can begin their outdoor sculpture tour from anywhere in the park. Brochures will be available at three locations: the Rose Garden, Morse Boulevard kiosk, and the Garfield Avenue entrance to the park to provide information about the individual pieces as visitors leisurely stroll the park. "This exhibition would never have been possible without the support of the City of Winter Park and a team of dedicated volunteers," said Jan Clanton, chairman of the Winter Park Public Art Advisory Board. "These interesting sculptures will beckon residents for return visits." The Art on the Green exhibition can be viewed without an admission fee from November 1, 2006, through February 19, 2007, and is open concurrently with the park.
